BJIRD: BRICS Journal of International Relations and Development is published twice a year on behalf of the BRICS Research Institute at Durban University of Technology.

Articles in the journal are published in English.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not substantially duplicate content from other articles authored by the submitting author or their co-authors that are under review or already accepted for publication elsewhere. If a related manuscript is submitted to another journal while under consideration by this journal, the corresponding author must provide a copy of the related manuscript and its publication status. The journal reserves the right to reject or retract accepted papers if serious scientific flaws or violations of journal policies are detected.

By submitting a manuscript to BJIRD: BRICS Journal of International Relations and Development , authors affirm that all data in their submitted paper are accurate. Submissions must adhere to ethical standards, including avoiding plagiarism, falsification/fabrication of data, and other unethical practices. Manuscripts involving original work on human and animal subjects must declare compliance with ethical procedures, such as confidentiality, informed consent, and ethics approval. Failure to adhere to these standards will result in manuscript rejection.

Plagiarism is considered a severe academic offense, and manuscripts containing it will not be considered for publication. All submitted manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin during the initial screening, and authors are required to provide a Turnitin report with their submissions. An acceptable similarity index is 20% or below. If plagiarism is detected, the Journal will contact the author(s) to request a detailed clarification. Depending on the severity of the plagiarism, the Journal may request revisions to the manuscript or reject it outright.

Submitted manuscripts are handled confidentially, and all parties involved, including authors, reviewers, and editorial team, must maintain confidentiality.

Authors retain the copyright of their manuscripts under a Creative Commons license (CC BY SA). Authors are encouraged to post their submissions on personal or institutional websites after publication, with proper credit to the journal.

Authors confirm that their manuscript has not been submitted, accepted, or published elsewhere, except for conference abstracts, unless rejected by the Editor of the BJIRD: BRICS Journal of International Relations and Development.

The views expressed in articles and special issues are those of the individual authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the editorial office, editorial committee, or the editorial board.

The journal operates on a fully open-access basis, making all articles immediately available to users upon publication.
